Title: MC 17.0.33 freezes in Kernel streaming

MC has recently started to play up. Sometimes into the first song 25 seconds it freezes and stops; sometimes it plays for 2 hours and stops suddenly. Restart helps and the same song that previously stopped plays now flawlessly. Re-installing MC did not help.

I use Kernel streaming on a Toshiba PC and feed a wyred-4-sound dac 2.

Obviously the flac and ape files are ok. Any ideas; thanks

Did anything change?  Driver update, for example?  Configuration?

WASAPI or ASIO might be a better choice.  See the wiki for details.

You might want to update to a more recent version.

 I have changed nothing on the PC; no driver changes etc. I will set up my compuer completely again. Currently all works fine to the next feeze up. The unpredictability of the problem is the problem.

Did you update MC?  17.0.184 is the current version.

Hi there

After some quiet months the same problem occurred. I have updated to MC18 and nothing has changed. MC18 plays in "direct sound" mode through the headphone jacks - but "kernel streaming" to a w-4-s DAC2 does not work. The USB cable is fine because I always can hear the first second or so of any track before it stops. As direct mode works I guess the program is fine and the problem is either with the PC (sound card) or the DAC.

Any ideas. What can I do after un-installing and re-installing both MC and the driver for the DAC.

Did you try WASAPI Event Style?
