Hi,
I'm currently using WD TV Live units as DMRs / DMPs with JR MC providing the back end. Very happy on the video performance, but getting frustrated with the lack of gapless audio support (& if I interpret the WD community forum correctly this is an issue users have repeatedly raised for a couple of years - so guessing it's unlikely to be addressed anytime soon)
So looking for recommendations for another device that has the following
- Ethernet (wired, 802.11b/g/n a bonus)
- 2 channel analogue output (1/8" or RCA)
- Handles FLAC audio
- MKV support
- 1080P output via HDMI
- DTS, AC3 & AAC passthrough (Coax or Toslink) and downmix to 2 channel analogue
- Support gapless audio
- Efficient standby mode
- Price similar to WD TV Live (currently ~ AUD $125)
Suggestions?
Appreciate your input,
Steve

Steve,
The real problem is the gapless support. I've yet to find a standalone unit with HDMI output that does that.
I know there is an open source firmware for the WD but I tried that without success as well.
Seems like something that could be fixed at the firmware level.

thanks Bob,
Any recommendations on a DMR that is audio only & does gapless?
cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve,
I've been playing around with various androids-on-a-stick but haven't had a chance to check many of the audio DLNA renderers in them for gapless yet. Seems like they might be a option that might get some attention from the various android uPNP package writers.
