Started today the free 30 days trial
This program look like a jewel,but $50...
-
well it is a good program, it is free if you just want the basic options (and really thats all you need).
-
I have it, paid the 50 bucks, and wouldn't be without it. There are some differences between the two, but the free program will suit most people.

Zevele10, I did a search and find ZoneAlarm 3.00 offered for $39.95.
You'll find it here:

You are rigth concerning firewall, you get the same product using the free ZoneAlarm.
And free 3 must be out in few days
But with the pro you have block ads and the best cookies manager i never saw

I saw the special deal with PestControl. But i have allready PestControl.Anyway i feel i will spend $39 on this program.More for me about Pro cause i have ADSL pp0E connection, and most of the firewalls do not provide stealth mode with this kind of connection.ZoneAlarm do but since one tear i try to set it..
Look like 3 pro will do it easy

I've been using Tinysoftware's Tiny Personal Firewall with W2k and XP since quite some time. Works well using PPPOE on ADSL, has lots of options and is free.

I DID NOT SAY THE SAME.
the paid version gives more options most users will not need, but nice to have.

You might also want to consider Norton Internet Security at about the same price as ZAP you also get antivirus and parental control features. Both are good products although ZAP has been taking some heat lately for changing the interface, although I personally like it.
-
FWIW: A very secure, clean, easy, no pop-up, ad, etc setup:
PPPoE over DSL > Router controling PPPoE, running NAT > ZA > Proxomitron.
PRO's:
ZA, AdAware, Proxomitron all free.
No pop-ups, overs, unders, etc.
99% ad free.
Stealty & secure.
All cookies are session only, not permenent, unless you permit them.
No nasty side effects, stable.
CON's:
Would love a good port monitor, to be able to see who is talking over what.
Some guilt about killing all the ads.
I don't mind banners, and can even live with animated ones. It's the post crash pop-up proliferation that caused me to seek out The Proxomitron.

Keep cool! You get the same product with pro or free on the firewall side.Only you do not get indications about "the attacks" with the free
Anyway ,there is 2 free programs who give you infos in a much better way than ZA. I mean using the ZA loog
Now with 3 pro ,you get pop-up killer and a VERY good cookies manager, not the IE 6 joke
The thing i like about it is to run only one program instead of 3.
You can set ZA free for stealth mode with pp0E connection. The only problem is that i do not understand how to do it.There is some adress ,i just do not know where to get it
More to do with me than with ZA.With 3 it looks like it is more easy to set
Beside this,i am idiot to care with stealth, cause the first thing i do with 'Windows open Gates 'is to close ports
I had a try to Mcaffee and Norton but they make your computer so sssslllooooow
As anti virus ,i use AVG[free] for scanning, but not running in the back and Vcatch virus catcher [free] runing in the back
If i had to pay for anti virus ,i will not spend money on it.I had been years without anti virus and no problem
Of cause i do not use outlook express and internet explorer
Thank you for your comments. But i feel in love with ZA3 pro
Alonso and Ingo, where are you?In US?I did not know there is pp0E connections in USA
Listening to Husayn al-A Zami -songs of ectasy in Irak-Live from the Grande Mosquee
