Title: Viewing and recording Sat TV
Post by: jgreen on September 13, 2012, 03:29:29 pm
If I have a Dish VIP211k and a laptop computer, what other equipment (Hauppauge or other)  do I need to view Dish Sat Tv on my laptop, and record this onto my hard drive?  I have USB inputs but no capability for internal cards.  Thanks!

You'll only be able to record to an external device from the (always hot) analog outputs (RF, S-Video, Composite).  I don't believe you can record from the HDMI output.

Any device that can handle these inputs should be sufficient.

An old post:

Yeah, the SD coax output should be fine for now.  I finally got my Hauppage nubbin working properly, so the hardware question is a moot point for now.

First impression of MC's "time shifting" feature is very very positive.  An interesting concept, this "time shifting" thing.
