Title: mc17 wasapi and wasapi event problem
Post by: Bill_Gaw2 on September 18, 2012, 07:01:11 pm
Since the last two updates will only give digital noise through HDMI output on anything other than 16/44 using wasapi or wasapi event to Classe pre-pro. WAVE works fine up to 24/192 and even DSD. Previously, had to start playback first with "Output" unchecked otherwise same thing occurred. Foobar, Sony Soundforge and even JPLAY work fine with wasapi output.

Usually with HDMI you need to set the bitrate to 24 bit in the Output Format DSP and Channels to either 5.1 or 7.1.

They are set that way. Worked fine before 2 updates ago.
Also have downloaded MC 18 and same problem is occurring. Works fine with Wave but not event

Just fixed the problem. Even though the DSP was set to output 24 bit it was actually puting out 64 bit to pre-pro. It cleared after seting output to 32 bit, got message that it couildn't output 32 bit and I okayed change to 24 bit. Now functioning fine with wasapi. Strange.

Sorry but not fixed.
Every time I stop play, it seems to reset to 64 bit output even though it is set for 24 bit. Have to set it to 32 bit, get the message that it can't output that and will I reset it to 24 bit and it works again. Any ideas!

Hi Bill,

I'm not sure what's happening.  We've not had reports of the bitdepth setting in DSP Studio not working.

Maybe you could create a new zone, configure it, and see if it does the same?

When you say "seems to reset to 64 bit output", what are you looking at?  The setting is in DSP Studio > Output Format.  During playback, Audio Path should display what's happening.

Thanks.
