Title: DLNA server not working with Yamaha receiver
Post by: gogius on September 19, 2012, 08:53:06 am
I use MC16. I used to use server to play files on my Yamaha receiver through DLNA.
Now I cannot see the server at all. I still can see my computer but not as MC server. The same with Gizmo. After putting in the code it tries to reconnect a few times and then gives up.
What can be a reason and how to solve the problem?

First of all, check your settings in Media Network.  Check that Media Network is turned on and that DLNA Server is turned on.  I'm using MC17, I can't remember the exact position of these settings in MC16.

My Yamaha receiver worked fine with 16.  Doesn't work at all with 17 or 18.  What changed in the DLNA settings between the versions?  All I get is a connection error.

Did you compare the settings?

I have a Yamaha receiver that plays songs from MC 17 and MC 18.  It's the RX V3900 that's already around 4 years old.  I wish that I could help with the settings, but I didn't really mess with them on either side, so all I can add is that there is no universal issue with Yamaha network receivers.

Any changes related to simply displaying and browsing the MC server on the receiver were small cleanups of the protocol.
Check under the Media Network->Add or Configure DLNA servers->Advanced
Is DLNAExtra checked? Try flipping it.
If that doesn't work, try removing the server and re-adding it.
If that doesn't work, try removing all of the Advanced checked options.
If it still doesn't work, we may need a wireshark dump.
Report back please.
