I just put together a CAPS server. I have JRiver installed, and am just testing right now. I have the Music sever connected to the DAC via USB. I have tried changing the Options/Audio/Volume settings and cannot control volume. Is it because I am connected to DAC via USB? Or?
Thanks

I have tried the three settings (Internal, System, and Application) and none of them will allow me to control the volume. Any idea what the problem might be?

Are you sure you're playing through the JRiver engine? Internal volume should always work if you are.
If you're using QuickTime, DLNA, etc., it won't.
Make sure Options > File Types is set to automatic for all types. Test an MP3 file from your C:\ drive.
It might help to look at 'Audio Path' while playing.

I checked and File types is set to automatic for all types.
I am not sure how to look at audio path while playing. Could you tell me how to do that?
Maybe I should add I am attempting to use Jplay
Thanks

Don't use JPlay. That's your problem.

After uninstalling JPlay, JRiver did not give me any sound. So I uninstalled it, and did a fresh install. But the same thing, I can not get any sound. I switched the Audio Output to every possibilty and still no sound. I had sound with JPlay I don't understand what can be happening. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
