Hi There,
Since I've upgraded from MC 17 to MC 18.0.48 I have problems to connect via LAN to my DLNA Net Receiver, which worked fine in Version 17.
I am receiving error messages like "There was a problem controlling the selected DLNA device....." and "Something went wrong with playback".
I have a Marantz NR 1602 if that helps.
Any ideas from your side? Did you change anything in the programme related to this feature?
Greetings from Austria, Thomas

Please check the settings in both.

Thank you JimH,
I am able to control my TV (Panasonic Plasma TX-P50GW30) via MC.
I am able to access MC Server from both TV and NR.
I am able to control my NR via the Web-Interface but not within MC (on the same PC).
MC is showing my NR under "Playing now".
The TV can control the NR.
So the only thing which is missing is to control the NR via MC which is also very important to enable GIZMO on my Android devices.
Do you have any ideas how to solve the problem?
Your more detailed answer would be very appreciated.
Thanks, Thomas

Do you have a single MC DLNA server?
When you see the NR in Playing Now right click on it and check the DLNA Controller Options.
First try disabling SetNext support.
If that doesn't work try disabling Transport Events.
Report back please.

Bob,
Your first question was also the solution. I've shut down my other PC (with MC installed) in my network and everything is working fine as it used to do before.
By the way, there was no need to disable SetNext and Transport events.
However, I'm still wondering that 2 MC server in the same network works for my Panasonic TV and not for the Marantz NR.
I've tried it with both server PCs and the strange behaviour was the same...
Nevertheless, thank you very much for your hint!

That's very odd since they should have different names and for certain different uuids. I'm not sure how having 2 on different machines would generate a clash. I was thinking you might have 2 servers on the same PC.

Cool!

The final solution is to deactivate server functionality on every other PC in the Network.
Otherwise there is no communication with the Marantz NR1602 possible (From server to Marantz).
Maybe this is a bug in the Marantz?
I don't know....

Bob,
This morning I discovered following:
Marantz NR was in standby with network enabled. I started MC and wanted to stream to NR. NR started from standby and some seconds after that MC answered with the known error messsages. So I rebooted the NR and started it manually. MC lost NR under "playing now" and showed it a few seconds later again. Then I tried again to play music via the NR. This time MC crashed. Only after restart of MC the problem was solved.
So I'm wondering why this did work in MC 17 and not in MC 18.
MC 17 did start NR and play music without errors. In MC 18 I obviously have to start first the NR manually and open afterwards MC in order to make it work.
Finally I think that the problem is in MC 18 otherwise it wouldn't have worked with MC 17.
Could you please enlighten my darkness?
Thomas
P.S.: Don't forget that my mother language is kind of German, therefore my English might be a little strange.

Since you have both MC 17 and MC 18, run task manager and check to see if there is a Media Center 17 service running (there shouldn't be).
Check your firewall settings, both MS and third party if you have one.
If it still doesn't work, could you send a log to bob (at) jriver (dot) com ?
Also I'll send you a PM with previous builds of 18 to try in case the suggestions above don't fix the problem.
P.S.: Don't forget that my mother language is kind of German, therefore my English might be a little strange.
Better than my college German (from a long time ago)!

PM sent.

Thomas, can you test to see if a WOL packet wakes up your Marantz from sleep mode?
This windows program seems to work well. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wake_on_lan.html (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wake_on_lan.html)
You can let it scan for machines on your net to get their MAC addresses or enter the Marantz manually.
If this works, we'll add the logic to MC.
Thanks,
Bob
