That was my major bugbear with MC17, now fixed!
the sound quality is different..better in my setup.
Have you guys done some wizardry to the audio subsystem or is it expectation bias at work? ;)
One thing though, there is a 10-15 second pause when playing video, particularly 1080p.
I run a high power server (Intel 3570k cpu/8GB ram/Nvidia 560ti gpu) and never had any problem running Red October HQ with MadMV set as video renderer.
Picture quality is outstanding when it eventually starts...but I'm keen to remove the delay.
(Can post madVr settings etc if required)
Also,
Theatre View text fade to prevent plasma screen burn in.
Any eta on that guys?
thanks, best media software out there BY FAR.

Glad you're liking v18.

We promise to do this during v18, but I'm not sure when it will happen.

I also feel an improvement in the soundquality with MC18.

Anyone any thoughts about movie files taking 10-15 seconds to eventually load?
thanks. :)

Not unless it is a drive spinning up from sleep.

I'm seeing this with the later MC17 versions as well. Also dropouts with TrueHD sound when not bitstreaming especially. I'm wondering whether the Lav filters changed something?

that was my thoughts...

Thinking it might be something to do with the "Display Settings"..
I had it set to convert video to 1080p 24 fps, will remove the conversion process and see what that does...
-
No..no difference.
Any ideas guys on the 10-15 second delay opening video?
I have a fast HTPC, pulling audio and video over gigabit ethernet.

I have a slow PC and I'm not seeing any delay different from MC17 on mine. It opens video in far less than 10-15sec.
I would try looking at the logs. You can get them under Help on the menu. You should be able to see what is happening during the 10-15 sec pause.
