I started this thread in MC17, and I see no difference in 18:

I use Internal Volume, have startup volume set to 30%, Volume protection is on, max volume is set to 90%. Still, the volume on startup is whatever it was when playback stopped or when MC was shut down.
This started occuring in some of the latest 17 builds, and I have no idea when.
Is there anything I can check, any error report/log file or anything that can give answers?

I read mojaves post in this new thread:

....which explains why startup volume never works. I always have Media Server running, and restarting MC does obviously not reset the volume when the server is running. I did not know that.
Question is - why? I fail to see how a remote client would care about the volume settings for the MC running on the host computer. I would believe it more convenient if startup volume was independent of any server running? Can this be changed? Alternatively, I would appreciate if someone would care to explain to me why not.
