I have never got loopback working. It's quite an important feature to me, so it would be nice to have some help debugging the problem.
I'm using 18.0.51. MC output card is a Lynx AES16, using the parametric eq outputs (digital filters and delay). The Windows card is the mobo card, a Realtek. It works with Spotify and headphones, so I know that it is correctly configured as the Windows card. I have updated the drivers on all cards.
When I play live://loopback, I just get an error message "something went wrong with playback". looking in the log, I can see the following:
1261375: 1072: Playback: CLoopbackLivePlugin::LoopbackCapture: Start
1261375: 1072: Playback: CLoopbackLivePlugin::LoopbackCapture: No device
1261375: 1072: Playback: CLoopbackLivePlugin::LoopbackCapture: Finish (0 ms)
I assume that there is nothing I need to do to MC to point it at the Windows default card? It should sort that out with Windows, I would have thought. So why can't it see my device?
Any ideas?

I can't explain this. I would only expect that log output if this function didn't return an audio device:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd371401(v=vs.85).aspx
It might be worth (re)installing the Realtek drivers.
Is anyone else seeing this?

It's Windows XP, forgot to mention that... Is Vista + a requirement?

Is Vista + a requirement?
Yes, Vista or newer is required.
I thought the program messages this case, but it must not. Sorry for the confusion.

Hmm, may be an excuse to get Win 7 then. And maybe an SSD.
Is this never going to work on XP, before I spend £200?
