Title: Ok Just to banter around a bit.
Post by: rovingcowboy on March 11, 2003, 12:57:10 pm
8)

lets say i dont know anything about mjb,  and it is the first time i came here.

what would the answer to this question be.

" I have win98/se on a computer i am not wanting to go online with but i want to use mjb to play music on it.
Will the mjb  need to dial up and will the lic.  ever make it stop working? "

lets also ask what is the best one to get version 8 or version 9 mjbmc.   and will it play vbr mp3's and ogg's. or do i need to make the all a fixed rate of playing. for the above question.

;D

You only need to go online to purchase MJ/MC, do the initial download of plugins, update to a newer build, and hang with us at the watercooler.

I would pick up MC. It's still beta but it's pretty solid now. The MC9 license will work with MJ8 (and the forthcoming MJ9). Any of these will play any mp3, ogg(http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/style_images/1/icon12.gif), MPC, etc. You just can't go wrong with this program. It's the best out there.

all this time and only 2 wanted to kick this around some?

yep i know i lost some stuff when win98 crashes but it is going to be just an offline jukebox from now on.

just dont want to loose the lic for mj if i dont put it online.

and  forgot the answer to the question so i thought i would post it as if a newbie so it would get kicked around.,  i dont need the mc  as it is not going to have the tv on it.  and it only a p 2, 266hrz cpu  and can not handle the visuals of the version  7 on full screen.  so  was just after only what is able to be played on it and what can be used off line.

i know mj has a online browser that in version 7 keeps trying to sign on.   it gets old telling it no all the time.   :'(

As I remember, V7 is similar to v8. In v8 this is controlled by Settings>Options>StartUp Settings>Startup page (combo box...I have mine set to Media Library)
