Title: Media Subtype Music Video
Post by: InflatableMouse on October 10, 2012, 02:34:18 am
What is the purpose of the media subtype 'Music Video'?

I have several and I'm in the process of ripping my music dvd's and concerts to MKV's. I figured I place them in a separate folder and tag them with 'Music Video' as media subtype, but the scraper gives an error that it needs to be set to Movie.

For the few that I already had when I was still using XBMC I could configure the folder import with a special scraper for Music Videos so I figured MC would be similar.

When I look up these music dvd's on 'themoviedb.org' they are tagged as 'music'.

I think the sub type of "music videos" is more used as single track videos. Full blown concert releases however, should be tagged as Movies with the genre as Music imo. You don't even have to tag them as Music. MovieDB will probably do it for you.

It's worth noting that videos marked as 'Music Video' get special (music-like) treatment from JRSS.

Would you mind elaborating a bit as to what the differences are exactly?

It's either very subtle or doesn't make a difference on 2.0 sources, is that correct.

I couldn't spot a difference on just stereo sources.

Is one of the "Special Treatments" that center channel audio is more directed to the L & R? That reminds me Matt, I and a few others would still like to see the amount of music directed to the center as an adjustable amount with JRSS. I believe as it is currently set that a lot is going to the mains under the assumption the center is of inferior quality. Some of us have high quality centers. Sorry if I went OT here.
