Hi,
Unsure of wether to post it here or in the V18 forum I decided to post it here since it concerns the tv-functionality.
My problem:
When I switch between channels at some point MC is bound to freeze the tv-signal. Often the sound can be heard but the picture on the television is a still-picture of the last picture from the previous channel. So the sound from the new channel is heard but no picture from the new channel is seen.
It was the same in v17 but I decided to give v18 a go since perhaps the problem had vanished.
Prior to writing this post I did uninstall MC, reboot and installed a new copy. Didn't work.
I hope you will help me figure out the problem. Log attached.
Best regards,
Mikkel

Sounds like a freeze in the video renderer.
Are you on RO or ROHQ? If you're on ROHQ, does switching to RO help?(ie is it a MadVR 'freeze').
I assume pressing 'stop' and 'play' restarts things normally again?

Hi SBR,
I'm using RO.
Pressing 'stop' works, pushing 'play' may or may not result in an MC crash.

One thing that I don't know if traceable from the log-file is that it takes several seconds (15 secs perhaps) to open a channel. For comparison: In DVBViewer it opens instantly.

Ho hum. Bang goes my theory then. Probably a stall in the jtv reader/LAV somewhere then I guess.

Seems quite unstable then. What video hardware/drivers are you on?

I think DVBViewer is the best and most reliable software for tuning DVB that I've tried. I guess there's an advantage for being located somewhere with DVB to write the software. Lack of acessible DVB in the US probably makes testing for the JRiver guys pretty hard. Probably quite dependent on MSDN documentation for methods of implementation which are terrible! Little tricks and bug-squashing more difficult when totally dependent on user reports.
It's a shame that MC can't match DVBViewer in terms of this reliability.
Another thing is that DVBViewer has over MC is the OTA EPG which is almost instantaneous and transparent. The guy who wrote it is a genius! IMHO.

I am seeing the same problem. I also see severe stuttering of the new channel. I initially thought it might be a graph issue but the video and audio requirements of the two channels are the same. The stuttering has been reported before I think.
Any progress on resolving this?
Nick.

Does the channel change involve video format change (like from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 or vice versa)?

No, DVB in Denmark is mpeg4 only now. It does involve a difference in SD vs HD-format and a change in audio (AC3 vs. "2-channel-something").

I think you will find this is a LAV filter issue or interaction between LAV filter and JRiver.
This has been mentioned in a couple of previous threads but haven't been able to resolve the issue.

It would be great if we could get some traction to resolve this issue as it is obviously affecting multiple users, including myself.

Please try build 63 available on Media Center 18 board.

Will do. I'll give you a reply on whether the problem is solved or not.

Problem still exists on MC18 build 63
