Title: DLNA Server still using CPU after playback stopped
Post by: Jong on October 16, 2012, 07:08:44 am
I see this problem with both MC17 and 18.

Whether I "play to" the TV or "pull from" the server CPU goes up, showing transcoding but stays high when I stop playback until I stop and restart the server. Even playing something else to the TV, like a single image, does not cause the CPU usage to drop from the level when transcoding. Nor does it matter if playback is stopped on the TV or in MC. Same result.

There is a transcoding timeout in case you restart playback or seek so that transcoding doesn't have to restart.

OK. Thanks. Seems kinda long though? Maybe? Many minutes.

I believe it's 5 minutes. Time for a bathroom break ;)

Is there a major cost if it needs to be restarted? Note this is not paused, which I could understand, but stopped.

Yes because pausing depends on the renderer. Some stall, some reseek using a byte range.

OK. I'll shut up! :)
