How many people are doing direct connect DAC to AMP and using MC 17 as their volume control instead of a PREAMP

I love it.

HTPC USB>>>>>DAC>>>>>Power Amps

JRiver internal volume out throught an ASIO driver works great for me. Your DAC needs enough voltage output to match your amps input sensitivity and your amps need enough gain to match your speakers.

Many of us have been doing it for a long time with good success in systems with high SQ.

The only difficulty I see with going straight to the power amps is if you have multiple inputs to deal with, instead of the computer being the only source. Not an issue for us.

Yep I'm doing it with JRiver MC, WMC, Arcsoft TMT5 and XBMC.
