I recently noticed that when I enable full screen exclusive mode in theater view settings that automatic refresh rate updates don't work any more. I checked the refresh rate settings with MadVR control-j statistics (high quality profile) and any time that theater view full screen exclusive mode was enabled, the refresh rate was always equal to the desktop refresh rate. As soon as I disabled theater view full screen exclusive mode, the refresh rate changed as per the settings in the video display settings. Is it possible that MC relies on the LAV splitter to set the refresh rate but LAV can't do it because MC has exclusive mode on the display? If yes then it would be nice to at least have a note in the setup menu that indicates setting theater view exclusive mode disables refresh rate updates.
