Title: DTS-HD not decoding to PCM.
Post by: SundogMedia on November 03, 2012, 04:22:45 pm
I've read the other posts on this topic and they are not helping...

I recently purchased MC17. I really like the program.
So, I installed it on two different computers. Each computer has different hardware as shown below. Both installations worked fine except
dts-hd would not decode. I found the reference to dtsdecoderdll.DLL and retrieved it from the Arcsoft web site. I installed it on both
machines in the places recommended. Machine-1 now works fine. DTS-HD is converted to PCM just like I want. However, Machine-2 will still not
process DTS-HD. I do hear sound but it is lossy DTS being bitstreamed to the receiver and decoded there.

When I examine 'Audio Path' in MC, it shows no input or output information.
Video plays normally.

--(working)--

Machine-1: Intel X-58 motherboard > W7x64 > MC17 > ASIO > USB > Edirol UA-101 > analog audio > AVR.
(nVidia GTX-470 used for video only). The UA-101 is an 8-channel 24-bit DAC in case you are not familiar.

--(not working)--

Machine-2: Intel X-38 motherboard > W7x64 > MC17 > WASAPI event > Radion HD 6770 > HDMI > AVR
(Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD Internal Sound Card installed but not used for this).

What am I missing?
Is it possible that the 6770 or the X-Fi card is somehow intercepting the audio stream?
How would I know if MC loaded the dtsdecoder dll?
I've tried DirectSound and it has the same problem.

TrueHD decodes properly on both systems.
I want do decode to pcm -no- bitstreaming.

MC version: 17.0.186
Test file is *.mkv. Same file on both machines.

I knew this would happen. Just after posting I found the problem.

Bitstreaming was turned on for video. I was only looking at the audio settings.
