Title: DSD Playback problem
Post by: sla on November 06, 2012, 07:31:57 am
I run JRiver through bitstream DSD [not DoP] over to Mytek 192.

Small problem:

When playback ends, I assume,  JRiver drops DSD [and I assume reverts to PCM] and that results in pop/crack sound...

I general I would rather have JRiver reports silence through DSD all the time

Is that possible?

Also - I wonder if there could be the option in Library to import "Stereo only files" or "Multichannel only files"

The Mytek makes a hardware level pop when entering and leaving DSD mode.

I tried some things like rolling silence before shutdown, delays, etc. but nothing on our side helps.  I provided technical details to them.

So they know about the problem.  It's possible a future firmware update will solve the issue.

I did some testing and it works now without clicks.

I am using newest Firmware 1.7.1 (released 10-24-2012)

The trick is to use DoP DSD mode (WASAPI for vista,7 and Kernel Streaming for XP) instead of DSD over ASIO.

DoP DSD no clicks whatsoever,
Native DSD over ASIO - clicks at the end of the song

[the problem is when DSD Asio is done Mytek reverts to 44.1 but when DoP DSD is done it stays at 176.4 - that is the freq of DoP DSD so no clicks]
