Title: Tons of Duplicate tracks when importing from iTunes OSX
Post by: sieges on November 07, 2012, 10:18:50 pm
I need the help of you geniuses here. When I imported one of my ITUNES Library, about 30% of the albums have duplicate tracks created withion each album folder.

Does anyone have a remedy as to how I might delete the duplicate songs. I did about 10 records one by one and I was getting a headache having to click 3 times for EVERY SONG I chose to delete.

BTW > I mentioned that the iTunes libraryof songs is OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.1

Thank you very much  :) :) :)

If they are in different disk locations, you can search for the location you don't want, then delete them.  Try a few before you do very many.

You could also clear your library (File/Library ...) and import again.

I removed your email address from your post.  It will only attract spam.

That you for your repsonse. Let me be more detailed,as your answer cant help.
I have a 27 inch IMAC quad core. I also have a NAS box with 4 1.5 TB disks.
ALL of the folders for iTunes are on the external "media drive"
That includes >
iTunes Library.itl
iTunes Library.xml
com.apple.iTunes.plist
And the folders
iTunes Media>
music **** all of the music is here. Each artist has his own folder, and his vaious CDs or LPs are in each folder

When you go into Itunes preferences, I have the path correct to the actual music.
Actually, when I uploaded my music to an Amazon cloud Audio Drive, I had a duplication problem as well.

Getting back to Apple, when I spoke to them a couple of months ago about the duplicate issue, i asked then I BEGGED
them just to delete or erase my entire itunes match accoutn, THEY WOULD NOT DO IT.They siad it was against the policy.
I guess if I was just willing to throw out $25. I could forget about the current account and start all over, but I REALLY dont want to do that.

It would be amazing if JRiver actually releases an OSX Mac version so I could be free from the Apple control. They have zero interest in people
who actually LISTEN to their music. They will never allow FLAC files.and I have tried to get them to lift the 25,000 song max but they will not do it.
They also will not LINK 2 accounts together, even if I pay for the,m.
ANY suggestions please ?
thank you very, very much in advance.
