Quite a few issues playing video on laptop (client machine) with MC serving library from main PC.
No external subs eg srt. MC isn't seeing them.
Most mp4 files don't play at all.
Seeking seems to be broken with mkv files ie. where you select a new point to play from, from progress bar.
Don't recall seeing any of these issues with MC 17.

This is not universally true.
It would help if you described your setup more. For example, where are the files stored? Are they directly accessible to the clients?

And the full version you're using. 18.0.78 is current.

If possible, use a path that both machines can get to like UNC or a mapped drive. This makes all video, including Blu-ray, work nicely.
Video playback over http:// will be less reliable. It's an issue we'd like to improve with time, but there's no simple solution to make all video formats work.
The one exclusion to this is JTV (JRiver television recordings), which works great over http://.

So what has changed since MC 17 because this has worked great in 17 for a long time? Exact same setup from 17 to 18 and now I can't seek in my video files. I would really like to get this working properly as it did in 17. I have paid for 18 as soon as it was available but have not been able to utilize it properly since then and I am forced to continue running 17 even though 18 is the new flagship.
This has been mentioned in a couple other threads by other people as well as myself many times. I am willing to do testing on my end to get this working but there has never been any response from anyone at jriver up to this point on this issue.

I'm using the latest version of MC. Files are stored on on server machine. No mapped drives.
This all worked fairly well under MC17. What has changed to cause all the issues in MC18?
As a start how about getting srt subs to work? They worked in MC 17. In MC18 the client machine doesn't see the srt file.
I use Never convert as a setting.

So you're using Library Server?
Red October HQ or Std? Try the other.
Toggle Hardware Acceleration.

There was a bug in our buffered internet downloading code. It is now fixed. Most of the issues (if not all) reported here should be gone. The fix will be in the next build (18.0.81 or higher).

Cool. Thanks.
