Title: TV Signal Strength
Post by: NickF on November 16, 2012, 05:57:12 pm
In the UK, analogue terrestrial transmissions were recently ceased.  Shortly afterwards, digital signal strength was significantly increased.  I have a high gain aerial with a header amplifier so now my signal strength is far too high and overdriving my tuner cards causing picture break up.  I bought a variable attenuator to try to resolve this.  I thought I would use the MC signal strength OSD to get the setting right but I find that it either reads 100% or no signal with nothing in between.  I am using a BlackGold BGT3600 tuner card.  Is this an issue with the card or MC's handling of the information?

Nick.

It probably has to do with your specific device.  I have signal strength ranging from 50% to 100%, depending on TV stations.

Just a thought here , and you may have already tried this ,but I might try bypassing the amp. If yours is a pre-amp /amp setup you need to bypass it all which may require a trip to the sky
