Title: Why does MC18 closes MC17 when launched?

Could someone please enlighten me as to why when I have MC17 running and then launch MC18, the latter closes the former? The same happens also between MC16 and MC17 but not with MC16 and previous versions. Thanks for the clarification.

(I know that I can manually re-launch MC17 when MC18 has opened but it's quite an annoying behavior, especially when playback is running in the background.)

It's by design.

We don't recommend running two core versions at the same time.

It's fine to have them both installed, but you should only use one at a time.
