Title: MP3 File Shrinkage into half
Post by: Allegro on September 16, 2003, 04:14:45 pm
When MP3 files are opened and saved in the Media Editor, for example after merging two files etc., saved file size becomes half of what it is supposed to be. (In other words, 10 minutes long file becomes 5 minutes file. And the file is played twice as fast as before as if tape is played in fast forward mode.) Different bit rates, 128, 64 etc., were tried. But the result is the same. (Media editor version 1.135 which came with MJ 8.0 is used.)

If someone can let me know why this thing happens and how to correct this, I would very much appreciate it.

Sample Rate?

Thanks for reply. That may be related. Sampling rate of the file is shown as 22.1KHz when this file is open in Media Editor, not 44 KHz. (But this file was played with normal speed before.)

For a try, I opened a file and just saved it with a different name, then the same thing happened. Sampling rate was shown as 22.1 when it was open and the same 22.1 after saved with different name. But now it plays faster with high pitch sound.

And in the Media Editor, there is no option to change sampling rate, as far as I know....

When the sample rate is something other than 44.1 this happens.

I am not sure if the problem is in MC9 also.

the orginal file must have been a MP2 or a windows media file.
