Title: still haveing problems with digital out

I hope someone out there can help me...  I've been able to get my computer to play through the digital out to my pre-amp.  The problem is, the only way I can get it to play DTS files are by setting to play Dolby digital which gives me, well, Dolby digital and not DTS or in stereo.  what I want to do is simple.  Whatever type of file I'm playing, I want it to leave my computer as such via a digital optical cable and have the decoding happen at my receiver.  Oh, and BTW, I'm using windows 8.
