Attempting to play most Youtube videos inside the player yields the following error:
Something went wrong with playback.
Details:
Failed to find or open file. (hr=0x80004005)
Issue has been prevalent since 18.0.94.
EDIT: I figured out the issue. When upgrading to new version, MC needs to add the required components again if one is using RO. However, MC will not do this automatically with Youtube videos. I was able to remedy the issue by playing a video file in my own library, and then playing the Youtube vid. The fix will persist until the next upgrade, whenever that is, but I suppose it's worth bringing it to your attention anyway.

This did not work for me. In .97, .100 and now .103 I get the error above when trying to play YouTube videos. I've played .mp4 and .mov files from my library downloaded earlier from YouTube and they play fine with no "Adding required components" message. Downloading YouTube videos doesn't work either.
I did get one video to play (out of about 10 I tried) but after playing twice, the third time it doesn't play either. To try it search for "end of watch trailer" and it's the 3rd result, titled "End of Watch Trailer #2".
Tried disabling the firewall too just to rule out the possibility of it causing this.
Any ideas?

Hmmm... this is getting really strange. Set the bitrate lower, first 1 mbit, then 3, then 5, and it worked, then I alt-tabbed in here to write this reply, then I went, "better check if download works before I send the reply", and then after alt-tabbing back to MC it now doesn't work. Wrote this, alt-tab back to MC again, and now it works at 3 mbit.

I can confirm this. Maybe something changed with YouTube coz even older mc builds seem to have the issue too.

Same thing here for latest mc17

Still haveing you tube load problems ?
-
Not happening on all Youtube vid's but mostly this error occurs for me also. :-\

Happening to me as well on two PC's both running version 103. I've tried various things such as downloading different file types and then playing them. That seems to work, but to play them directly does not work.

Downloading you tubes was my new hobby with MC 18 . Hope we can get some solid work around
Cheers all merry Christmas

This happens when YouTube changes their servers.
We'll try to get Media Center updated to support their latest changes in the next build. It will likely be next week, since we're closed this week.

Thanks Matt! Enjoy the holidays.
