Title: Access Control
Post by: dasfoo on December 20, 2012, 07:10:01 pm
I've been playing around a little with Access Control feature. If you have a access control enabled with an active filter, is there a way to login  & view the unfiltered content without going back into access control and disabling it?

I'm thinking in terms of using MC for a family HTPC: a default view for kids & whole family, but a filter override for when the kids are banished?

Currently you have to go into the dialog (with password) to enable / disable.

I agree it's a few more clicks than would be ideal.

In playing with this a little further, I think that if you could add an option to have an Access Control button in Theater View tucked away under gadgets, that would be perfect. Just an inconspicuous place to enter the security code and toggle the control on or off, but without leaving Theater Mode.

I agree that an access control button in Theater View would be great. The other thing that would be nice is multiple levels of access, with cascading rules, so that we could limit to G for the little kids, PG for the juniors, and then add PG-13 and R for parents/teens.
