Title: Playing partially downloaded videos?
Post by: mykillk on December 22, 2012, 07:14:41 pm
Firefox likes to add a .part extension to unfinished downloads and, although they are watchable in other programs, MC18 will not play them. Is there any way to play these files? Thanks.

These are incomplete files.  That other programs will attempt playback probably shouldn't be expected of all programs.

Why not? The LAV splitter will handle it properly, at least for the types of files where incomplete playback works (such as .mkv). It's simply a matter of JRiver not recognizing the file extension and not even making an attempt at playback. You can rename a complete file to have an unknown file extension and JRiver won't play it either. JRiver should make some attempt to play a file with an unrecognized file extension, or at least allow the user to add custom file extensions to the file type list.

Add the file type if you want it:

   <programfiles86>\J River\Media Center 18\Data\Default Resources\FileAssociations.xml
