I just got my MC Remote and connected the receiver to a USB port.
Going to Tools - Options - Remote Control Setup - when I hit NEXT - the message says "You don't appear to have a Media Center receiver connected to your computer. Please connect it and try again."
The "receiver" sees the remote and reacts to it. So, it is connected.
I would like to see what is "Next".
Anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?
thanks, bh

do you have to quit mc (remember to also stop mcserver)

Struct, thanks for the note. I am inept. I have searched this site and can not find how to "...quit mc (remember to also stop mcserver)"
Would it help to upgrade to MC 18? I am currently using MC 17.
Any further help would be greatly appreciated. bh

Struct meant, exit Media Center normally, then go to Task Manager and kill any remaining Media Center process.

You can stop Media Server by right clicking on its icon in the lower right corner of the Desktop.

MrC,
Thanks for the reply...
I closed MC and checked the task manager and found nothing that looked like it had to do with MC or MS.

Jim,
thanks for your note.
I have gone back and reviewed the getting started notes and checked in the Wiki and can find nothing about the MS icon.
My desk top has MC in its tray....and no screen I open show any icons in the lower right of the desk top....
Your help is truly appreciated....
And what a great file management program...I am up grading later today.

From the Start Menu, run MC's Media Server.
