Title: Cloning HTPC to Tablet.
Post by: RGBlues on December 29, 2012, 11:12:05 am
Hi folks,

Looking for some direction here and forgive my ignorance on this subject.

I have an existing HTPC tower WIN-8, MC-17 installed. The HTPC has all my storage and is connected to a HDTV monitor and 2-channel sound system. What I would like to do is replace the existing HTPC wireless keyboard with a WIN-8 touch tablet and control all functions of the HTPC including cloning the video to match the HDTV monitor.

Is this possible and what steps can I take to accomplish this?

Appreciate all helpful replies. :)

I can't really help but from what I've read MC doesn't really work well (yet) with touch screens.

The closest you could do is JRemote on an ipad and use the remote control feature which supports gestures and swipes. This works pretty well (speaking from experience).

You can do this with Splashtop Streamer on the HTPC and the Splashtop app on your tablet. However, cloning video playback will be less than satisfactory. It's fine for navigation through theater view etc. though. Using an app like mobilemouse pro (iPad/iPhone) is absolutely fine for OSD, mouse and keyboard functions. If you want to get really fancy, you can use iRule. iRule and Mobilemouse will not clone your desktop though.
I use JRemote and am just getting into iRule now.
