Title: MC Scheduler vs Windows Task Scheduler ?
Post by: kstuart on December 30, 2012, 07:32:22 pm
Is there a difference between using the Scheduler in MC18, as opposed to using the Windows Task Scheduler to  run MC18 using the command line ?

( Is that what the MC18 Scheduler does ? )

Both can do the same sorts of things, so use whichever is more comfortable for you.

If you use MC18 for scheduling, make sure you have Media Server running (Options > Startup).

MC's scheduler only runs when MC server is running.  Windows scheduler runs so long as Windows runs.

Windows scheduler has many options and is pretty configurable.

I don't believe MC's scheduler uses the Windows scheduler (but I won't swear to this).

What are you trying to accomplish?

It sounds like one should use Windows Task Scheduler if one is not sure that MC will be running at the time.
