Title: Extreme slowness building my Library
Post by: Tiago C on January 02, 2013, 08:49:49 am
First of all an excelent 2013 for everyone!

Yesterday I installed the last build .104 and noticed 2 strange things, can anyone see if its also happening, or its only me?

- I have my collection on a Seagate NAS (acceptable speed, I can watch nice quality movies from there), my library is stored on my laptop, and I have no MC server running. I decided to delete and recreate a completely new library, but now I am noticing that its taking a huge time to add files.
Adds 1 file each 5 seconds. I connect my laptop thru wireless, but didn't had any issue like this in the past.

- I had configured in the auto-import feature 2 separate directories. One for the Music and Videos, and another for the photos.
With this last version, seems that I can only have one directory in the auto-import. I can add the 2nd directory, but it doesn't save, and it doesn't search inside this 2nd one.

Anyone experiencing this?

Thanks,
Tiago

For the performance, I'm not sure.  It's not normal, so points to a hardware issue.  You could hard-wire to the NAS as a test.

I haven't been able to reproduce this.  Make sure you click 'Finish' after customizing (if you just close the dialog with the 'X', your changes may be discarded).

Regarding HDD speed, I'll have to test later. Need to find a croswired cable I think.
Anyway I can copy files at a "normal" speed, and I can watch movies with 720p resolution.
I am noticing this only in importing my items into the library.

Regarding the 2 diferent directories, I discovered what happened.
You can't add a folder in the Auto-import (for Audio and Video), and then add another one that is a sub-folder (only for Photos).

Thanks,
Matt
