The chance of getting an answer to this is slim to nothing but I'm still going to try. I have been using Media Center for over 10 years now. For the last 5 years I have been using it in combination with Homeser using the JR River plugin. This plugin has issues but it will allow me to do basic commands through my homeseer touchscreen like next/previous song, start/stop show album art. Just enough to keep me going and still be able to control the rest of my house with the same program. So far I have always been upgrading when a new version was available and it always worked with the homeseer plugin until MC18. Now the homeseer plugin cannot communicate. It complains that
12/27/2012 12:19:43 PM ~!~JRiver MC~!~Error updating status (91): Object reference not set to an instance of an object.||Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I'm afraid to hear the answer but i guess that my days of using MC in combination with homeseer are over so i have to look for another solution.
Thanks
Marcel

I have the source code for the homeseer plugin. If someone could indicate what changed between mc17 and mc18 that might cause this issue I might be able to fix it.
Thanks

I believe this is the main cause of my issue. Since this is more MC related somone might be able to give me some advise.
Thanks

You were able to have Homeseer operate with versions up to MC17? I tried a while ago with MC15 and had zero success. My understanding was that the plugin was only operational with MC12, which is currently unavailable for purchase.
I have been dying for a way to have HS control MC18. It would completely change my home automation setup. I tried using NetRemote, but it was very clunky (in my opinion) for designing screens to operate both Homeseer and MC. When I upgraded to HSPro and got HSTouch as part of it, I abandoned NetRemote (my HA setup is primarily controlled by touch panels throughout the house). By switching to HSTouch, I lost the ability to control my music. I would also like to have events in HS to drive MC.
That's my 2 cents. I'm subscribing to the thread in the hopes you get some resolution.

Ok getting no feedback, next question MC18 still runs on XP or not?
Thanks

I have had no problems running MC18 on WinXP.
I have it running on WinXP, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Fine with all of them.
The XP machines are basic, ex corporate-style desktop PC's that have touchscreens attached to them. I basically have a button in HSTouch to launch MC and a button on MC's main theater page to launch HSTouch.
Crude, but can work.

MarceldeMAN... does Homeseer have the ability to learn and send IR? If it does, controlling MediaCenter is easy... if it can learn/send IR, let me know, I can tell you how I have I it all working using HomeVision.
If Homeseer can call MC18.exe, it can also control MediaCenter that way.
-
With the right hardware, Homeseer can learn and send IR; however, generally (at least in my setup) Homeseer and MC are installed on the same box.
Homeseer can also call MC.exe, but how to pull the songs into Homeseer menus to select music? That is the issue. There was a point in time that Homeseer worked pretty well with MC until version 13 - then everything started acting funky and Homeseer stopped supporting the plugin. Very frustrating - there is no way I am giving up MC at this point. Many people are using Sonos with Homeseer, which seems to communicate well, but it doesn't make sense for me to move to a whole new install in my house, and the cost of Sonos is too prohibitive, in my opinion. I also don't think I would get anything better - although I will say that the Sonos seems to play better with many of the online streaming sites for radio.
