Has anyone else noticed distortion when using WASAPI? I have experienced it on two of my systems, on both Win 7 and Win 8, both regular WASAPI (push?) and event-mode.
If I change the output format from WASAPI to either DS or Kernel Streaming, and turn the volume on my soundcard down to around 85%, the distortion goes away.
As mentioned, this occurs on both my desktop system - using a USB headphone amp, as well as my 2 channel "reference" system at home (optical connection from soundcard into a high-end DAC).
Thanks.

Are you using build 106? It's at the top of this board.
-
I don't think it's specific to a particular build. I notice it in both 104 (at home) and 106 (at work). For what it's worth, I don't think it's a MC issue, either, I think it's actually WASAPI, because I've noticed the same issue with Foobar.

What type of files are you playing?
-
flac and wav. Happens with both formats.
-
Clipping or distortion should not occur at 100%. Do you have any DSP enabled?
You can use 'Audio Path' to check:

Nope, no DSP enabled, and the audio path tells me there are no changes being made. I agree, there should be no distortion even at 100%, but alas, it is there.

I would take a close look at the audio hardware.
This statement makes me wonder if it's related to WASAPI at all:
If I change the output format from WASAPI to either DS or Kernel Streaming, and turn the volume on my soundcard down to around 85%, the distortion goes away.
I mean, use 'Internal Volume' and turn the volume down and it might remove the clipping just the same.
