Title: My suggestion: 2 different versions of gizmo (one free and one to buy)
Post by: rhgh on January 06, 2013, 03:57:06 am
hello jriver team
My suggestion: 2 different versions of gizmo

v.1 - the current version as a free app

I think I can only imagine how much work it does.
Therefore - the app costs money
how much - that you decide, depending on expenses

v.2  - gizmo plays music directly from the player
       - Syncronisation and communication optimized for mc database
       - Support custom database fields
       - Support of the play states
       - And and .....
       - ..........

I, and probably many other mc user will be enthusiastic and willing to buy the app.

All good suggestions that have been made.  FYI - the JR folk prefer Muffins over $!

How about keeping it simple. Just having an android player that syncs play stats back to the MC database would solve so many peoples problems! I don't care if it's optimized or not. It can take 20 minutes if it wants!

Wild enthusiastic +1
An android app that would support my custom audio book fields and play from internal storage , Ye God's please consider doing this.
I personally would pay a great deal for this with out even blinking at the prospect.

In Gizmo:
- Results from a Search return items such as an Album with multiple tracks, it would be good to subsequently list these tracks to choose which one to play rather than only have the current blind options of Play/Add/Shuffle/etc.
- It would be helpful if Playing Now had a mode to display items in the Playing Now playlist queue
- It would good if that queue of items in the Playing Now playlist could be manipulated, if not re-order at least the ability to remove items
- A party/jukebox mode would be good where a guest could search the library and select a track that by default adds to the Playing Now playlist (ie remove ability to disrupt, or wipe, current Playing Now playlist - other than perhaps skip current track)
- Add ability to rate tracks
- Increment No of Times Played field in Library

Mobile devices will be increasingly used to consume media, so I think it only makes sense for Gizmo to fulfill that demand with the simple "light" free version that exists now, while a paid for app is developed with the many features sought by MC users.
