Hi all,
I probably missed it, but Is there any way to make the track name and artist to scroll in the taskbar? Or getting that info by passing the mouse over the MJ button on the taskbar?
I normally work with the MJ window covered by other active windows and would like to know those details of the song currently playing without having to close or minimize my active window.
Thank you.
I agree that your mouseover suggestion is a good idea. We'll see if we can add it to v9.
Ten years later - what happened ?
Did I miss an option to enable this ?
Or are Deivit and I, the only ones to do other work on the PC running JRiver ?
Thanks.

I would be surprised if this was not proposed every so often...

The "Write Playing" plugin will display the track name in the Taskbar.
You should be able to find it on the MC web plugin page.

Looks perfect, except that the download link in the post about it is 10 years old and has the inevitable result:
The requested URL /mediacenter/mc_data/plugins/writeplaying.mjp was not found on this server.

I have it and it seems to still work in v18.
If you need it PM me and I will post it/send it to you.
Cheers!

WritePlaying does work in v18.
It can be downloaded from the "Accessories" page under "Interface PlugIn's"

Where is "Interface PlugIn's" ?
Is that on JRiver web site ? Somewhere in this Forum ?

I installed in v18. How to work? I see nothing ...

Go to "Services and Plug-Ins" in the MediaCenter tree on the left, you should see "Write Playing" and you can set up the options there.
-
The long version for noobs like me:
Double-click on the "192.mjp" file, and it will install in MC18.
Then as BabyFace says:
Insert Quote
Go to "Services and Plug-Ins" in the MediaCenter tree on the left, you should see "Write Playing" and you can set up the options there.
At the bottom of the WritePlaying options is a checkbox to enable the taskbar info. It will give the full info in a tooltip (yay), although Windows may limit the length of the tooltip (boo).
It looks to me like you can customize the info using the same values as found in the customization of the info at the top of MediaCenter.

Just curious...
Why doesn't Aero Peek work for you? Plus, the Aero Peek thumbnail popup does also display a tooltip with the currently playing track if you pause your mouse for just a split-second on the taskbar icon. I use this occasionally to check the currently playing track on my machines at the office. Of course, I have three monitors, so I usually just throw MC to one of the three and leave it up...
Or were you looking specifically for the scrolling-in-the-taskbar part of his request?

Don't mean to hijack (but I guess I am anyway) but while there is some WritePlayling attention does anyone know if I can use this to include a coverart thumbnail in the file it writes?
I want to write a little HTML file which includes the cover art.

In my case, Vista.

The PlayingNow plugin might do what you want... not sure if you can still buy it, the web site doesn't look updated much.

Ahhh, that splains it.

The PlayingNow plugin is very good, but not for sale :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

The WritePlaying uses a script for the text, it comes with the Default:
%name by %artist from %album on Media Center %version
Is there some way that I can use "[Remaining Time]" from the Status line at the top of Media Center?
Or is it a different language ?

Yes, I paid for that years ago and wish it was still active. I just tried running it in v18 but it isn't going well. Its a shame - it was a very useful, easily customizable plugin.

The PlayingNow plugin works fine for me in v18. I don't remember when I bought it.
I found my registration email.... purchased 10/2007.

Good to know its working for you. I will definitely keep hacking away at it then. I haven't used it for years but if memory serves me correct I can do the cover art along with the song details with Playing Now.
-
Yes, very customizable...
This is the jpg it generates at each track change... a modified skin from one of the stock ones.
