HI all,
In the manual, I read that
The program comes with dozens of automatic Smartlists. To enable them, right-click on Playlists and select "Create Stock Smartlists".
There are many more stock smartlists accessible when you create a smartlist and select the arrow next to the Smartlist Rule field.
But both don't seem to apply in mc18. Am I missing something?

This bit is still valid and works today in MC18. When you do this, it will create a Playlist group called "Smartlists" and the stock ones are inside this group. To be honest, I think that this group is part of the default MC installation, and the "Create stock smartlists" function was added for the many many people who deleted them, then asked how to get them back.

This bit is obsolete and no longer available. If I remember correctly, it's from back in the day before we had the smartlist wizard.

See my (almost done) work in progress:

I just have to rewrite and test the examples and resolve a few open issues.

Thanks to both.
Re the first one, I was right clicking on "Smartlists" instead of Playlists. Doh. Still, nothing new appeared after the correct use; I hadn't deleted any smartlist and it seems I expected more readymades.
MrC, loads of reading there...

Are you saying you have no Smartlists under the Playlists area in the tree?
-
No, just that no more were created.
-
"Create stock" creates the following entry in your tree...

As I mentioned before, these should be there by default, and this option provides an easy way to get them back if you delete them.
Were you after anything in particular?

Not really; being lazy I just wanted to see what was there.
I just have to figure out a way to start learning expressions, though it's not exactly my cup of tea...

And marco has loads more reading for you:

Yeah, I'd seen that one. I've also seen many ready (formed) expressions in the forum. Wouldn't it be great if there was a place where they were all gathered together? (nag nag)

There are literally thousands of examples here. This would be a really laborious effort.
Its best to ask questions where you need to, and build up your knowledge over time with practice. Start playing by adding an expression pane or column...

Thought so. Thanks for the advice...
