Title: Best practice for a blank line in a view ....
Post by: apostos on January 14, 2013, 02:58:34 pm
I'm experimenting with separating lines of text in MC’s “Large View” via several methods. But I'm unsure as to the potential pitfalls of doing so.

Is there a ‘proper’ way in which to present a blank space (field/expression) without causing myself grief down the road?

Do you mean between the thumbnail text in a categories view?  Maybe a little more clarification would help, if not.

This would be in Theater View.

As you can see I've separated the fields of text on the left. I've found a couple of ways to achieve this but as a new user I'm blissfully unaware of the potential pitfalls of the processes I've invoked.

One method … creating a custom field/expression ....

And the easy way …

By selecting a currently unused/unrelated field, leaving it blank and again leaving the “Hide when value
is empty” field unchecked.

Just wondering if there is a 'sanctioned' method to achieve this.

Thanks

Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

You could also create a line divider this way too.

Thanks.
