Title: Timeshifting button operation
Post by: BradC on January 17, 2013, 10:54:23 pm
When watching TV on my desktop (which doesn't have a remote) the next and previous buttons do not behave as descibed here
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/TV_Time-Shifting

instead they change channels, which are in the playing now list.

How do I get the next and previous buttons to perform seek or jump operations when watching Tv?

Use left / right to jump.

It's especially nice if you get a remote.  You can do everything with the arrows, enter, and green button.

I have a remote for the HTPC, but won't get one for the desktop, as it wouldn't be convenient to use.

Is there any way to change the function of the buttons on the interface so they behave as described in the wiki?

Further, I have also had a problem with the remote buttons on the HTPC (using a MCE remote), where the next /previous buttons change channels. This lost the timeshifting buffer and was very annoying.

The buttons should perform skip operation, as the channel up/down buttons should change channel, as per windows MCE.

Thanks for the quick response

Is there any way to get the next/previous buttons on the GUI to operate as skip for TV timeshifting?

I seem to recall that that is how it operated in MC17. It is only a new problem

The Previous/Next buttons have been used for channel change since a long time ago.  The wiki is outdated.  MC17 works the same way.

You can use the arrow keys on a keyboard.  They work the same way as those on a remote control.

I still have the same problem with the (MCE) remote control however.

The chapter skip buttons, which should skip in timeshift mode (as they do in MCE), change channels in MC
