Title: failed to connect Video decoder to source / splitter
Post by: rec head on January 19, 2013, 07:50:22 am
When trying to play some older DVD rips (as mkv) I get the message "failed to connect Video decoder to source / splitter." When playing newer rips the work fine. I used Makemkv for both. Any ideas?

What happens if you rename your file endings from ".mkv" to ".mpeg" or ".avi"?

I didn't have much time but I renamed one file with .avi and it did not change.

Are you using Red October (Standard or HQ)?
What hardware do you have in your system?
Are these files able to play on other software?

In addition to fitbrit suggestions of more details the other option is to post a link to an upload of a sample (or small part of) a file that causes the issue.

I have tried Standard and HQ. These files play fine in WMC.

The system is a dedicated HTPC. i3 2105 using onboard graphics. SSD system drive. 3 media drives.

I don't know how to edit the file down to a reasonable size.
