Title: Another ASIO question.

It may be a stupid one at that. I'm trying to use ASIO with a supported soundblaster XI FI Xtreme Gamer soundcard.

At this time I am outputting everything from the computer's mainboard HDMI to my receiver.

Do my speakers actually have to be connected to the soundcard to get ASIO to work or is there a way to send it back to the HDMI output and onto my receiver? Should I just be using WASAPI if it is being routed with HDMI?

Yes, you need to be connected to the soundcard for it to be doing anything. Just use WASAPI out to your receiver via the HDMI. You can remove the soundcard and sell it.
