I am using MC for my whole house audio and have put speakers in my home office. So we have multiple zones set up in MC. I need to be able to quickly turn the volume down, just in my office. Is there any sort of remote volume knob I could set on my desk?
And a bigger picture idea - this is mostly needed if I get a phone call. Is there any way to have MC detect an incoming phone call and automatically turn down the volume?

How well does the Media Center Remote sold here work with zones? If multiple zones are playing can it just turn the volume down on one zone? If so, how is a zone selected? Or does it do them all?

Do you have an iPad, iPhone or an Android device? You could look at Gizmo or JRemote.

BabyFace has a nice custom kit for this. But it might be more than we mortals can manage though:

I have JRemote on my iPhone but it takes too long to type in the password get to the remote app and turn down the volume. Especially a problem when someone is calling me on my iPhone. I would be much more handy to have a volume knob on my desk. :)

Nobody knows how the media center remote deals/works with zones?

you could program the remote buttons to just work with one zone.. say you want to turn down the volume in zone 3, program the button to external program mc18.exe, parameter /MCC 10019,5:2
the 5 is the percentage the volume goes down. the 2 is the third zone..
you could do that for any button on your remote
does that help
