Title: Maybe OT - Where is cover art downloaded from?
Post by: rec head on February 01, 2013, 09:33:01 am
I have been listening to music using theater view and like that the artwork comes up and switches. Some of it is great and some is weird, unrelated or even spam. It got me to thinking where are these images from and can I upload images to the database? My brother has shot a lot of bands and he has great shots that could really add to the collections. Problem is I don't even know where to start to get his up there.

The weird stuff comes from Google.

If you think it's fun, leave it.

If you don't like it, you can turn it off in Options > Theater View > Theme > Online media slideshow.

There's currently no way of using your own art here.

Possibly you could make your own replica of google images, run it off apache web server, and change your hosts file to make MC think that it is google, but then you couldn't use google at all.. Sounds fun to try though, to see if it would work..

I was thinking of adding it to wherever on the internet this stuff is from. I have way more concert shots (good ones!) than are available for some bands and I thought it would be nice to add to the collection for all to see.

To just watch pix on my computer I could setup a slideshow right? I can tell you right now that I won't be setting up a server. That's way beyond me.

I'm curious about this - is there a technical reason for this?  Is there something preventing MC from running a query for [Media Type]= [Image] ([Artist]=<current artist> or [filename (path)]=<currently playing path>, and using the results if any?

I don't mean to widen the opening in this can of worms.
