Title: YouTube Playback Issue
Post by: GaryWW on February 04, 2013, 07:59:51 pm
YouTube videos can't be found by the player again (18.0.128). Or is just me?

I just installed 18.0.129 and can still not play a YouTube video with the internal player.

I'm having the same issue, build 129. Is youtube video playback region specific? I'm in Canada.

YouTube changed their site.

The next Media Center build will support these changes, and should be available in a few days.

Sorry for the trouble.

If a video doesn't play, just try it again a few times and eventually it plays. At least that's the way it works on my computer. Maybe it's because it doesn't hit the same bitrate every time, maybe YouTube has several different servers, I don't know.

Anyway, it still needs a fix.

Does MediaCenter have its own Youtube searching and browsing facility, or is it the same as Youtube's ?

Google has continually dumbed down the Youtube searching and browsing - the concept is simply "You are going to watch what everyone else is watching" (unless you already something very specific in mind).

For example, the Music browsing is by Most Popular, and no other restriction.  I'd like to be able to browse "Most Popular amongst those uploaded in the last month" which would eliminate all the 2012 videos that continue to dominate the charts.  zzzzzzz....

I am going to uninstall MC 18 and reinstall it to see if that fixes my problem. Other than restoring the Library from a recent backup, are there any other things I should do 1st (e.g. Update Tags (from Library))?
