Title: Can I install MJ14 alongside MJ8
Post by: tlcmd on February 05, 2013, 01:17:45 pm
Since I cannot get the MP 3 encoders toinstall on MJ8 any longer, it looks like I'm going to have to install MJ14.

Question: can I install MJ14 alongside MJ8 or will MJ14 replace MJ8 when installed??

Thanks,
tlcmd (aka Dick)

Provided 8 is no different than any of the other versions I have had (12-18) it will remain and you will have 14 as a separate application.
I have had as many as 3 versions (16/17/18) installed at once.

It might work.  I believe it was at MC11 that it began to be separate.

In my experience MJ8 will not work after installing MJ14. Some MJ8 registry settings get corrupted when a newer MJ ot MC version is installed. If I recall correctly, MC 11.1 was the first version that supported having a newer version installed at the same time.

Another issue would be the separate MP3 encoder license for MJ14. I'd recommend buying an upgrade from MJ8 to Media Center instead of buying the MP3 encoder license to already quite old MJ14.
