Randomly the sound drops when watching OTA TV through MC. Haven't noticed it yet in movies, HUlu+ or others. We have a local channel on this morning and suddenly the sound drops and we have to use our remote to increase it.
Anyone else? Bug or a setting or?
-
are you on the latest build from mc? there was a problem with drops a while back. i haven't noticed if it returned. http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=77142.0

We are on 128 atm.

I had changed the sound from Light to Medium in an attempt to stop the sudden drop in sound. Just moments ago, after switching the the medium setting, the sound dropped so low we could barely hear it. I went back in and have now changed the Medium to OFF. Lets see if that solves the issue.

Where are you setting Light and Medium?

Where are you setting Light and Medium?
Adaptive Volume
-
Try turning it off.
-
As I noted above I have turned it off (earlier today) and will monitor
-
I had it turned off but....when I switched back to Radio in the sound bar it nearly blew the speakers.
As of this morning I've turned it back to light.

Yep. That's what Adaptive Volume is for.
You may want to also try enabling/disabling the Volume Protection feature. It is under the "speaker icon" (volume type selection widget) on the main toolbar in MC Standard View.

Volume protection and System volume are checked and yet we are still getting massive swings. My wife was just watching a movie on our system and had to turn the sound bar to max to even hear it.
Other thoughts?

I just went into Audio and have two choices: Direct Sound and AMD Audio. It was Direct and I just switched to AMD to see if it helps.

No, try unchecking Volume Protection.
-
I just unchecked Volume Protection.
My system: AMD Mobo going to TV via HDMI. TV's sound output is through my Phillips soundbar via audio cables
-
Still getting sudden sound drop even with the changes suggested here made.
-
Do you have any other special sound software involved? This isn't something we've seen before.
-
I do not. I'm using an AMD mobo with onboard sound. I have two choices: Direct sound and AMD. I've tried both and the result is the same. I'm not aware of any other software that affects sound. I'm using a Hauggague 2250 tv card.

Also experience this sound drop.

When the sound drops it can be while watching TV (OTA), a movie or something streaming online. Just happens. No pattern I can see yet.
