Title: forgetting registration?
Post by: itsratso on February 08, 2013, 07:35:59 pm
i am new here. i installed jriver 18 a few weeks ago and payed for it with paypal. it told me last week that i had only a few days left on my trial period. confused i went to help to license restore. that worked (although it told my i only had 9 left) which kinda cheesed me off but hey, 9 is a lot. so today, once again, it is telling me i only have a few days left in my trial. i don't want to burn through all my restores, i have paid for this. how do you fix this?

This may help:
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Restoring_a_License

Don't worry about using the restores.  We can reset them.

Hey, this post is old but I'm having sort of a similar issue...my trial period ended with JRiver and I purchased the program with paypal. Got the email confirm with my transaction ID from paypal. Went to the page where I enter that ID along with my email and this is what it says each time I enter my info:

Quote
Your PayPal Transaction ID is in your payment confirmation e-mail from PayPal. It is a string of digits and letters, around 20 characters long.

Your e-mail is the e-mail address you gave JRiver when you purchased.

If you have already used your license, please visit our restore page.

For support, please visit Interact.

I thinks someone else had a similar issue and they found an email with an attached license. I can't find an email like that in my inbox. I only received an email confirm from paypal. Thoughts?? Thanks guys! :)

Please try the first link on this page:
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Paypal

Sometimes Paypal fails to complete the transaction.

Occasionally, they also delay a transaction.

I checked and Paypal shows a purchase, but it didn't complete.  Try the link at Paypal.  If it doesn't work, please email deanna at jriver and she will help.

Sorry for the problem and thanks for your patience.

Hi JimH, thanks for the reply...the link you sent is what I followed before and it led me to the page I mentioned in my first post (after clicking a link in wikipedia) and it also left me the same message when I entered my email and paypal transaction ID...

I'll look for Deanna's email, thanks :)

Ok Jim, I got the email thanks so much!

In fact, I (stupidly) realized that the email I'd been searching for the registration code in before was THE WRONG ONE. I forgot I registered JRiver with my gmail, not yahoo account. A quick search in gmail showed the original email you guys sent me :/

So sorry about that, my fault! I want to make sure you know that it wasn't a mistake on you guys' part. And thanks so much for the lighting quick response time to my issue!!

Today my MC17 has started telling me that my 30 day trial period has expired, although I have been using a registered copy on this computer for many moons (the last modification to the jriver folder was 15 November 2012, and it was installed long before that).

Yes, I know I can jump through the hoops to reinstall the licence, but how could this have happened?

You may need to restore your license after changes on your computer.

So just use a restore.  You get lots.  If you run out, post here and you'll get more.

Another Help Request -
Purchased the MC18 upgrade at the special price:

Media Center 18   $20.98 USD   1   $20.98 USD

I didn't get it installed, and decided to just wait for stable - I've now installed MC18 but it didn't license automatically (I thought it would).

Tried the paypal link, says
We could not authenticate your transaction.

Paypal says:
Business Name:
JRiver, Inc. (The recipient of this payment is Verified)
Email:   info@jriver.com

What's next? I'm sure I've forgotten something, but can't figure out what it is. EDIT:tried the Restore link, it re-sent the MC17 license (which won't work for MC18, purchased that in Feb 2012)

The only purchase using the Jp.Bxxxxxxxx@gmail.com address is for v17, on 02/05/2012.

You'll need to find the original receipt (or remember the email address you used) if you purchased v18.

Thank you sir, you gave me the clue I needed. Although I had done a global search for buy-button, jriver, interact, ect in my email client (which has about 10 email acct's in it), I had only found messages in my jp.b****@gmail.com - didn't remember using another email address.
Manually searched all the accounts, and finally found the original receipt in another account, in the trash. So, apparently my email client doesn't search the trash - doh!
I'm up and running and so sorry to bother you with a such a newbie request for help
Thanks again.
