With Scripting Plugin installed:
1 Click Services & Plug-ins, Scripting Plugin - Scripting Plugin appears in current tab page
2 Click new tab button (unlabelled - found on right end of tab row) - new tab page appears showing Start
3 Click Playing Now
Expected: tab page shows Playing Now
Observed: tab page shows Scripting Plugin

It's now impossible to see Playing Now except by closing the Scripting Plugin tab.

I'd guess the cause is an overzealous WM_PAINT handler.
