As we're headed down the runway toward launch of MJ into Release Candidate Space, I want to say "Thanks!" on behalf of everyone here at JRiver. The process works well for us because you're there and we really appreciate it.
And a special thanks to those who documented the bugs carefully without getting too worked up about it. Your patience is a big help.
So, if you downloaded, tested, and posted bug reports, will you add your name to this thread?
Thanks,
Jim

Done with pleasure,

I downloaded, tested, and posted bug reports. And I may have gotten mildly worked up a time or two. But on those occassions I always posted under someone else's name. Sorry to all those whose names I used that wound up blacklisted . . .

Does that count?
Can we nominate others that we think did an outstanding job?

A minute contributor, but one nonetheless.

I was there a little. Where's Doof & ZRocker?
-
>>>>Where's Doof & ZRocker?
Finally getting some much deserved rest, now that beta testing is winding down.
-
Comic relief, mostly.

thanks a million for a exciting and challenging process for all parties involved - and it looks like you have a winner!
Jesper.

All apologies to Doof for the flagrant plaguerism of his skin.

Great product and great company. I haven't seen this kind of response to users before so I commend JRiver for it's approach to listenng to it's customers.

>>a exiting [sic] and challenging process
Typo or sarcasm? Or was that post meant for the bug thread?
-
Here I am!
We've been really busy here at work due to extensive office moves so I haven't been able to be here as much as I'd like.
MachineHead> I think apologies (from both of us) should go to Microsoft since I stole that image from the clipart gallery that came with Office XP.

Does the most valuable tester get the title of Master Beta? (Couldn't resist).

Mhorton...definetely a typo..thanks for spotting it! I meant exciting.

no problem, I always read your posts with great fever . . . er, fervor

Likewise. Downloaded, Registered, Posted Bugs.

Mostly a lurker, but kudos to all at J River for the amazing work. I wouldn't come to work each day if it wasn't for this program. Ok, so that's an exaggeration, but if you knew how many times a day I pressed "Ctrl-J"...
-
Beta testing is too much fun to pass up... seriously; it's been fun! So what kind of break is everyone at JRiver going to get when 8.0 hits the streets?

Hey Wait for me LOL

Hi
It has been fun watching all the dedicated testers and having my tuppence worth...
Great job, fantastic product!
Listening to: 'Violin concerto in D minor, op.47 (original 1903-04 version)- Allegro (ma non tanto)' from 'Sibelius Archive' by 'Jean Sibelius' on Media Jukebox

Surely you cannot be serious! Thinking of coming out of beta? There are still soooo many things wrong. I suspect a lot of these kudos are effected by temporary insanity or something. THERE IS NO WAY THAT THIS PROGRAM (V8) IS READY FOR RELEASE!
HONESTLY! I'm so sorry but that's the way I feel about it. I know that everyone has worked hard to accomplish what has been acomplished, but it's much too early to quit now!

Contribution small and in the "getting worked up category" I'm afraid, but it's good for me.
-
Me too!!
-
Not as much input as others, but I did my best.
Great programming job.
-
Glad to help, even though I didn't, much.
-
Minimal contribution but some. I'm highly impressed by the many contributors who did extensive testing and even the sometimes humorous ways in which they reported their findings.
But most of all I want to say thanks to the great JRiver team who have produced a wonderful product. Now I want to wish you a lot of success in spreading it to the masses.

If you're thinking about posting, don't worry about whether you did a lot or a little. The question is just this: "Were you or were you not on that spring day, a beta tester?"
Just the facts.
Or as Ken Kesey said it in Tom Wolfe's "Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test", "You're either on the bus or you're off." Meaning, "did you do it or not?"
-
I did a little bit of beta testing. Can I be on the list?

I think you have a great team. I would like to have been able to do more than just repeat myself again, but ... "Great Work"!

Well back in December I wanted you to come out with the beta why I don't know I only found two bugs and for me to find them they had to be minute with Doof,Z-Rocker,King and Horton you have a good backup. I just want to say I think you have come out with a fine Jukebox for the money. I would like to have plugins with getting rid of the pop's,crackle's,hiss and etc hey $10.00 for the plugin if you wanted it OK and a better labeler like easy cd 5.0 another $10.00 still it would be cheaper than CD 5.0 and with those(plugin's) a heck of a lot better than Roxio. A good job we will give you a 9.
-
We'll accept a 9, thank you!
I've been thinking the same thing about the plugins. We'll talk about it.
Thanks for your work on the beta. Little bugs are important.
-
I got in on this late, but it has been exciting to watch and listen, to everyone who has contributed.
For what little I have contributed it has been fun!
I think what made me a believer in MJ are the people who are associated with it. I hope Media Jukebox Ver 8.0 kicks butt when it is released.
-
I was here, once upon a time. Seriously, great job, kudos to all involved.

ME TOO!!!
I think I may have helped a little on Version 6 and Version 7 and now Version 8. Mostly I just hid and watched until something became so obvious a fishing worm could have spotted it.
A lot of fun, though. So let's do #9.
-
I discovered MJ8 later during development, but I quickly switched, and started beta testing. I've since become addicted to MJ and this board. Great product and great comunity!
Claudio
-
Helped a little, and enjoyed it all.
Thanks for the oppertunity to be a part of it all.
-
Not everybody runs MJ on 3 monitors..
John
-
Great job! As in any beta test, no amount of testing will find all the bugs, and not all those found will get fixed but I've been impressed with the level of response and regularity of builds.
RemyJ
-
Glad to be able to help out.
-
<claudio
It is easy to do that you can get alot of help on the board sometimes it gets off topic but never out of hand thats worth the $25 just for the board. What we need is go to C-net and give a review (that is if it is good) but it would help if you like the program and I think it is only going to get better it is complicated but lisle has the help going so for us have nots it's going to get better
-
I came, I saw, I bought, I tested.
Major bugs are sorted out, it appears.
I never saw too many myself.
Would add a few things as posted before.

-
Thanks!
-
Thanks you all for everything, it's definitely been worth it. I know I almost gave up there at one point when my computer & MJ almost drove me crazy, but it's all working fine now & I never had to revert back to Version 7.
Kindest Regards - Rusty.
-
Thanks to everyone,
I'll think, most of these Testers will be back with the next version 9.xxx coming up.
See You
Udo
-
Great Product. Hope to contribute more in the future.
-
Didn't too much bug reporting for 8.0 because there was always someone that reported what I'd found before

Anyway, thanks to all at JRiver and on the interact for a great beta time !

I've been on this bus. Excellent job, guys, a great product. I appreciate the responsiveness throughout the beta test.
-
Been using MJ8 since the first beta. Wasn't sure how long I could hold out after the EQ and DSP disappeared but they made it back in fine fashion.
Thanks for JRiver and there hard work and thanks to those very experienced beta testers who help the rest of us out all the time.
-
Glad to help.
-Mike
-
Not a huge contributor (it's really hard to beat some of these guys to the punch) but I did contribute whenever I found issues not already covered (some of which are still there
) Thanks for having such an open beta, allowing real-world use to improve the product tremendously.

I think I was on the bus for a mere 1 or 2 stops this time around, however... One thing is quite clear in my mind. I forget the bug, but I remember this: I found a tiny one that ZRocker & Doof didn't see (or didn't report). What are the odds, eh? Kudos to them, the others, and of course, the JRiver team, who no doubt will soon have access to a few day passes for good behaviour.
-
Glad I was able to help with such a great product. Can't wait to see what future versions will hold.
-
* * * WONDERFUL GROUP OF GUYS!! * * *
Best Regards... Doc Lotus

Well, I also did a bit of beta testing and bug reporting (and feature suggestion) for this awesome application.
Congratulations on an amazing piece of work !

Hi Jim,
The pleasure is all mine !

Made a few comments here and there. Was happy to participate.

Test or not, never worked with more pleasure on something, than this one!!!

There should be a prize for the tester who scored most 'first responses on a new build', which would have put me in last place !!

This software, this company, and this process has been, and will continue to always be a labor of love. This *model,* all-inclusive beta process works to the benefit of everyone willing to actively participate, and to keep a positive attitude throughout the process, remembering all the while that opportunities to build and maintain real community like this are rare indeed.

Did my best to test, record and report any bugs...
As well as introduce ideas...
-
I gave my two cents and you guys came up with a gold mine...thanks

Killroy was here.
-
Helped a little bit with AutoUpdate not working.
MJ8 looking good Jim and working well with Girder.
Working on new Girder 3.1 group.
-
It's great that a software can evolve with this much particiaption from its users (some of whom are frustrated). Sure makes you feel you're taking part in the process.
-
Mfinute contributions here & hthere -- love watching the proccess
-
Jim,
I've been using MJ8 beta, but have not been able to post as much as I would like.
It seems after being unemployed for a while (4 months) and really asking a superior power for a job, he has really delivered and I've been traveling at least 50% each month, working 16-18 hour days.
You have a great product and have sold several others (they've downloaded eval and purchased witihn a few days) just by showing them MJ on my laptop.
So, I guess I can qualify as a uncompensated sales rep for your company whose territory is US-based and doing it for the love of the product, not the compensation.....
Also, not being religious about the "superior being"; apologies to those who might take offense, but I really doubt I find those types who offend easily here.
Mike
BTW, I'm planting some tulip tree (fairly young, currently 6 feet in height) to eventually complement my pine trees..
-
Damn.. hit the "Reply" button before I finished typing my thoughts...
Kudos to all here who have contributed. It has made the journey more pleasurable..
Thanks for a great ride.
And trying to follow (really trying) in King's footsteps, I too, also feel compelled to express my thoughts with a song.

Mike,
No offense, thank you for thinking of it.
Tulip tree? Magnolia? I saw them last week in New Jersey. Incredible.
Congrats on the job and thanks for your efforts repping MJ!
Jim

A Tulip Tree in my part of the world (Tennessee) is a Tulip Poplar. Also known as a Yellow Poplar.

My moms house is near exit 25 on the garden state parkway (In NJ)
she has a Magnolia tree or two in her yard

Last chance to be included in the list. Thanks again to all for the marvellous support.

I've learned more than I've contributed. Thanks for the outstanding program!

MJ=best software ever

What can I say that has not already been said other then...
FANTASTIC JOB TO ALL!!!

Happy to have helped contribute (if only a teeny bit) to such fabulous software!

I missed the bus last time. I hope I'm not too late this time.

More names will be added next chance we get.

Me too.

Thank You a lot for fixing completely every single bug I reported here about immediately. MJ and nothing else.
-
Downloaded and checked nearly every beta but I wish I'd have more time to post messages here because I think, you're on the right way - especially with this this user-forum. It's cool to get the chance to be part of such a developement... I really love this Jukebox, it makes listening to music and working with it much more fun and less stressful - thanks a lot for that!
I would wish that you'll go on this way in developing this software and the way you listen to your customers,
Take care,
Eric

Ever, ever, ever so slightly. Small price to pay for a solid product.

PeterS,
Don't forget to include the names Cmagic mentions in this thread:
http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/interact/NeoBoard.pl?Action=ShowPost&Board=inter&Post=9743
(please note the first name he mentions
)
I already posted in this thread before, but I didn't get included yet
-
Hello guys,
Hope my help helped
That was a real pleasure to "take part" to that.
I'll enjoy a lot testing your next version (the Linux one?)
Cheers !

Tack me on there and keep up the good work...

I too used the alternate names for complaints, suggestions bugs, and such-- don't want to be the bad guy!

I have done a itty bitty little tiny bit of testing, so if you are going to have a party and a full sheet cake with the beta tester names on it and have a very small person with a narrow decorating tube put my name at the bottom right. Marbled cake with white icing is my favorite. And don't forget the red punch ....
Darwyn

Same as many others. Using MJ since a long time, started with first Beta, tested, showed to friends, bought a long time ago, reported some bugs, found some hw problems on my own box, never had such a good music engine ever before!
Thanks to the developers, and HI to all you Beta testers!
Greetings form G'old Germany

I'm not a beta-tester (MJ 7 user previously nervous about installing MJ 8).
I've now converted to MJ 8 and as you all know it's terrific. Congratulations to the MJ team and all the beta-testers (I've followed the forum, and the activity is very impressive).
Thanks to all of you.
