Title: Audio downgraded on DLNA from PC to Sony Blu-Ray Player
Post by: Surfking61 on February 13, 2013, 08:04:53 pm
I just finished setting up my DLNA sever so I can stream my video and audio to my Sony Bravia TV through
my Sony Blu-Ray player.  The video side has worked flawlessly.  I have no lag issues and no lock issues.
I was kind of surprised how easy it was.  My question is this.  My Blu-Ray player will only play MP3's and
WAV and WMA files.  Most of my files are FLAC or WAV from CD's.  When they are played through the player
the MPs' that are 320kbps play at 128 and the FLAC's get played as MP3's @ 128 which I think is weird.  Is
there a setting somewhere I am missing, there is nothing on the Sony player?  Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks.

Check you Sony player, it may not play FLAC or Lossless files. I know some of the Sony's will not play them.

I did check the Sony and it does not Play FLAC or Lossless files, but why does it
downgrade the quality on my MP3's from 320 to 128kbps.  Media Center will stream
my FLAC and Lossless files but they end up as MP3's on the Sony, Why?  I didn't
think it would play them at all.

hi,

Check the DLNA server Audio settings in MC (Tools - options - Media Network - Add or Configure DLNA Server).  There're options for when to convert & how to encode.  I don't have the Sony however my Audio  settings are Always Convert and Encoder = Uncompressed - L16- No Header.  Try that or MP3 high bandwidth

regards,

Steve
